Our Founder
Sharon McQueary is the founder of The Free2BMe Project, a faith-based outreach and support group for women employed in the sex industry in the Toledo, Ohio area. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Bowling Green State University (2003). In 2009, Sharon earned her Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Northwest Nazarene University. She served in leadership and on staff at Hope Community Church for 6 years, as Women’s Ministries Director and Women’s Pastor. Sharon presses on in her education and will soon be awarded her Masters of Divinity in Spiritual Formation.
Things weren’t always this way. At the age of 18, Sharon entered the commercial sex industry, as an exotic dancer, where she spent most of the next three years, until a divine intervention occurred. Sharon and her, then boyfriend now husband, had their world rocked by an unexpected pregnancy, a gift from God that would forever change their lives. The impact of the few short years spent in a club in Toledo has been long-lasting for Sharon and her family. Many years were spent living in shame and guilt for the choices that were made both by her and for her. Sharon spent much of her time hiding all the places she had been and all the things she had seen, keeping it all separate from her new life she had found with the God of the Universe who so lovingly pulled her out. It wasn’t until 2008, while working on her Master’s degree, that Sharon began to trust God with that part of her life.In 2009, through another divine intervention, God presented Sharon with a vision of how he longed to use her past to set captives free. And she said, “YES!” Since then Sharon has found a freedom that she never imagined was possible! A freedom that is based in the redemption, restoration and love of Jesus Christ. |  |
Twice a month, Sharon and a team of dedicated volunteers visit strip clubs in the greater Toledo area with gift bags for the women inside. The Free2BMe Project longs to help women understand how to make healthy life choices through encouraging them to realize their God-given value and purpose. The message is simple and hits the heart of this ministry “You are loved!”
Sharon is passionate about seeing the lives and hearts of women and men truly transformed through a relationship with Jesus Christ and an understanding of their true worth in Him. Sharon desires to see the Church become a place where open arms embrace broken people and healing through the love of Christ becomes reality.
